After we spend a super time in London i was eager to put some new felted friends on the blog.

Meanwhile i work on my other blog that will be on line soon....Here i put inspiration  i want to share with you. Mostly simple natural solutions for health and wellbeing. And lots of other inspiring stuff...
This blog will be in Dutch.

Felting, how it started

It all started with this hotwater bag i felted a year ago at my friend's workshop on La Palma. She discovered the joy of felting a few years before and makes the most beautiful objects. It was the one and only felting lesson i got.

Last year i discovered illustrated diaries. Got inspired to draw again with pen and indian ink. Because i drew in a diary, there was no beginners stress. Exactly what i needed. Just drawing for fun. Soon i felt i wanted to draw animals! Getting to know them better by taking a closer look at them.

Again on La Isla Verde tried something new: Felting an animal.

My first needle-felted creatura was an owl..It took me at least a whole day but i was hooked.

Then a blue fish came into existence.

From then on the creatures presented themselves to me, mostly while i was just experimenting with some wool. In this way, the fact that i didn't know how to felt, was made to an advantage. Every time, i was sure it totally failed.  But after the "crisis" something really surprising arose. No expectations.....this works for me.

Last thing i felted out there in nature was this little mermaid.

Back home first thing i did was ordering wool, piles of wool.I found a company in Germany at Wollmeister.de  and  Meervilt in Haarlem.

So now the animals could  find there way into my hands and wool. And off we went:

Two young birds.

A hare-judge.

 Little mouse in awe of

 the old turttle.

Because who travels much has much to tell...

I then made a mixture of wet felting and needle felting. This was something completely different. I had not yet a feeling how to shape the wool or what would happen when the shape got wet..

Mmm.These guys were kind of weird  half animallike beings. Birdman?

Maybe they would change into something else later on.

And they did, but still kind of strange isn't it? They belong together, without doubt.

Balerina doll.
She reminds me of the doll i played with at my grandmothers house. It was a doll my mother had in her youth, so back in the nineteen-twenties..

Now i had some experience with a bit of wet-felting and needle-felting mixed together. I then made a promise to myself to create a blog for them as soon as i made 30 creatures. This happened today.
